Today is the start of Ramadan!

If this is new to you, believe me, it was new to me less than 2 weeks ago and I am still learning day by day. But the Lord has impressed upon me the need to get out of my comfort zone and stretch me in a totally new direction:

Praying for the Muslim people.

Let me share with you what I have learned about Ramadan and why I have a new sense from God to press in this month in this direction and join the 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World! My MISSION for this month of September and my Prayer focus: the Muslim people in our world.

WHAT IS RAMADAN? (For a more complete explanation click here).

Ramadan (Ramaḍān) is a religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, believed to be the month in which the Qur'an began to be revealed. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which Muslims don't eat or drink anything from sunrise until sunset. Fasting is meant to teach the person patience and humility.

My personal appeal is for prayer and that you open your heart to intercede for these precious souls that need Jesus and the many who are being persecuted and suffering for Christ's sake. The testimonies come from many parts of the world! Many countries are in the 10/40 window.

The Center for Ministry to Muslims has an excellent, very informative booklet available to all in a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat Reader, entitled:

In God's eyes, we each are unique and wonderful that does include every Muslim. Muslims are people. We listen too much to the negative media in the world about Muslims and the Islamic civilization and forget this very important concept. They were created by God and are a very large part of "For God so loved the world...." This means that as God honoring Christians, we should not assume that all Muslims (or any people group, for that matter) are all the same nor should we generalize about Muslims, we are to exercise caution, especially in judgments, fears, prejudices and negative attitudes. To be an effective person in prayer, we must break down any wall, so we need to have a clear understanding of some important issues.

I will only share one at this time
taken from Christian Answers Network in an excellent
article: How can followers of Christ best pray for Muslims? (click on it to go read it)

"Every Muslim is someone whom God loves. Unfortunately, some Christians make the mistake of not praying for Muslims because of their own prejudices or fears."

  • Let us begin in prayer by asking God to give us a heart filled with love and compassion towards Muslims.
  • We also need to pray in faith and confidence that God will hear us and will move powerfully in answer to our prayers of love and compassion. (John 14:12-14)

Here is an excellent video they share to give us a brief introduction

Each day throughout this month I will pray from the 30 days of Loving the Muslims thru Prayer which gives a prayer focus for the day. Why not go to their site and join in this outreach.

On Friday, which is Jumaa, the Muslims are gathered in their Mosques for a special prayer time. Prayer is one of the five pillars of Islam. All Muslims are required to perform certain religious practices. While the Muslims are in prayer on Friday would be the best time for Christians to press in and cover them with prayer. So I will....

Do you have a greater burden and want to pray more effectively for those who have never heard the gospel?

Will you commit & join me in PRAYING for the Muslims this month?

Holy Father, We thank You for your supreme gift of Jesus Christ, Lord of lords, King of kings and
Savior of the world. During the next 30 days, as we unite together in prayers for the Muslim world, Lord, I ask that You will stir afresh in us an increasing desire, passion, and burden to pray for the salvation of these people. Help us to pray fervently. Father we know that more than a billion of Muslims have been deceived and blinded by satan and without Jesus Christ they are headed for an eternity of misery in hell. Oh Father, have mercy on these people and save them from hell. In the days to come, Father, lead us in prayer by the power of Your Holy Spirit and pour your saving grace among the Muslim world. In Jesus precious Name we pray and give You thanks and all the glory forever!

[This special prayer was by my sweet precious friend, Dee...who is partly responsible for much of this burden I have and the great resources above.]

Heavenly Father, I lift my dear sister in the Lord, Dee, before you and her family, near and dear to her heart. I am so grateful for her, her husband and son. Draw and unite them Lord by Your Spirit. Open their ears to hear and eyes to see the vastness of Your Love for them! Bring Dee strength and protection as she joins me and others for this battle in the spiritual as we claim souls for Your Kingdom. Lead her and speak wisdom through her. Give her courage to share the love she has for You and her family. Blend her family together in One accord as they draw close to You! Deliver us from all evil. May we pray united for these days of loving Muslims through prayer in the power and strength of Your Holy Spirit who reigns and lives throughout this world, searching for those who will stand! So we stand united and declare that You, God so loved the Muslim world...that NOT one should perish but have everlasting life. And we press on as we wait for Your will to be done.
