Stop Modern Slavery poster

Thanks to Diana Scimone, and her BORN2 FLY Project and her own blog, I finally know about something before it's over. [And don't forget to join her Born2Fly Project "virtual" team; just go here, scroll down the list of teams til you find Born2Fly, and make a donation to "walk" with BORN2FLY]. You certainly can go read about this at Diana's blog.

I am hoping to once more make us AWARE of making a difference to STOP this human tragedy

The best place for you to get the details of DC Walk for anti trafficking for this upcoming
Saturday would be DC Stop Modern Slavery WALK

October 23rd, 2010
National Mall
Constitution Garden
Washington DC

"On October 23, 2010, thousands of people will gather on the National Mall for the DC Stop Modern Slavery Walk, a united effort to celebrate human rights, raise awareness about human trafficking, and raise funds for organizations working to end human trafficking."

This event is organized entirely by the volunteers of DC Stop Modern Slavery (DC SMS).  No one on the organizing team is paid.

"DC SMS is an all-volunteer grassroots organization with over 850 members.  They seek to help end modern slavery through community education and action.  Their diverse membership includes entrepreneurs, lawyers, teachers, business people, military personnel, nurses, authors, bloggers, nonprofit leaders, and many more.  They are brought together by a common desire to build a world without modern slavery and guided by a shared belief that we can affect change if we work together."

How will my donation help the cause? Your donations will help:
  • Provide emergency, short-term, and long-term care and services for victims of human trafficking
  • Create, strengthen, and implement anti-trafficking laws
  • Operate the national human trafficking hotline that handles tips of potential human traf-ficking situations, provides general information to the public, and offers training and tech-nical assistance
  • Train law enforcement to identify victims and implement laws effectively
  • Rescue victims of human trafficking
  • Raise awareness about human trafficking

 One Word Button

"Real caring is the willingness to help each other in making our brokenness
into the gateway to joy."
~ Henri Nouwen
Steve Green

Today, I learned of a new carnival/meme called ONE WORD at a TIME with Bridget Chumbley and today's WORD was

I'm linking up late with them because I sensed God leading me to share not on my brokenness but on SOME OTHER PRECIOUS ONES and their BROKENNESS.

Each one of the bloggers that linked had wonderful writings about 'brokenness' as I lurked and read most of the day, many of the 30, so I did not want to forget these many bloggers and what they wrote and shared from their hearts. My writing does not compare to theirs, but my heart does and the cause that I am sharing is ONE of extreme BROKENNESS!

I could not help but think of this SONG, the many times that I've wanted to write on brokenness in my own life yet never have. I cannot help but think of Mary in the Bible and her Alabaster Jar. I certainly cannot forget, Our Lord and Savior "broken and spilled out". It is certain that brokenness is usual thought of as a sad, hurtful time, but there are also positive parts to brokenness. We are often eluded of any hope in restoration, while in the midst of our personal brokenness.
"What is the final objective of the Lord's working in our lives? It is to break this earthen vessel, to break our alabaster box, to crack open our shell. The Lord longs to find a way to bless the world through those who belong to Him.  Brokenness is the way of blessing, the way of fragrance, the way of fruitfulness, but it is also a path sprinkled with blood. Yes, there is blood from many wounds. When we offer ourselves to the Lord to be at His service, we cannot afford to be lenient, to spare ourselves. We must allow the Lord utterly to crack our outward man, so that He may find a way for His out working. " ~ The Importance of Brokenness
Since I am sharing this over here at MISSIONS, I would like you to consider the "brokenness" of the many children and women being trafficked. These victims are broken over and over again. Their process to "healing" and restoration, if they are ever rescued from this horror, will take years and many compassionate hearts. It takes a church, a people open and ready to minister & reach out.

Leviticus 26:13
Freed from Shame
As we walk closely with God, our burden of guilt is broken.

Psalm 124:7
Delivered from schemes
Praise God for the countless times He has delivered us from our enemies.

Psalm 34:18
Rescued in humility
By surrendering our stubbornness and arrogance, He accepts our brokenness and hears the prayers of the righteous.

Isaiah 53:5
Healed from within
Those who trust in the Lord receive inner peace, as His brokenness satisfies God's price for our sin.

Luke 4:18
Restored eternally
Jesus, the long awaited Messiah, fulfills Isaiah 61:1-2 prophesy of renewal.

Matthew 26:26
John 19:36
1 Corinthians 11:23-24

Here's a STORY of just one such teen in the USA that was a VICTIM of this HUMAN TRAFFICKING, and will be shared with Dottie on her radio show this Thurs., Sept. 23rd... I'm sure many of you were thinking that Human Trafficking is just for other third world countries like India, Thailand, or even here in Mexico... YES, it does happen there BUT IT IS RIGHT WHERE YOU LIVE!!! HERE'S another eye opening story and there are so many more.

"Imagine yourself or your daughter: you are living in a brothel (or a place that
is keeping you against your will to profit from you).
Imagine the pain each day. Day after day after day, you are held hostage
and raped repeatedly.
Imagine how your hope weakens each time you pray.
You go to bed every night praying for the pain to stop.
Yet every morning you wake up to another day of beatings and rape.
Your hope wanes. You see no end in sight.
You are told vehemently and violently,
anytime that rescue is brought up
that it will never be possible
and you will live out your
entire life in this
[many times, they are told that they know where their family is and will threaten them]
[many times they are told that they are in debt to their captors]
~ this is taken from the 3rd devotional of a pdf from a  book

So when I think of my times of brokenness, I am put to shame as I am reminded of these unknown yet known victims; women and worse, CHILDREN that are stripped of all human dignity, mistreated and abused. There is no reason for their brokenness through something that they did, but what was done to them. This is extreme injustice! And I, for one, am ANGRY about this. They are left with the scars for a lifetime, unfairly imposed on them and we have the chance to do something to put their pieces back together or STOP IT from ever happening.

Here's ONE of many things that you can DO about this by joining BORN2FLY with Diane Scimone - go to her blog by clicking on the link to read more about THIS:

This is a WORD for each broken heart!!! Yes, you being trafficked and even you, the traffickers (may God have mercy & redeem you from your evil, sick hearts & may you find forgiveness too)... and any among us that the Lord sees as BROKEN:

"I Am Walking Among You to Heal Your Broken Hearts"
The following corporate prophetic word was given by Eileen Fisher on September 7, 2010 during her weekly Prophetic School of the Holy Spirit meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado:
The Father would say, "Here I am walking among you. I am walking among you to heal your broken hearts. For I have come in the midst of you to heal your broken hearts. For have I not said in My Word I have come to heal the broken-hearted and set the captives free?
"I am coming tonight to read the disappointment that is in your heart. For the enemy has come and he has tried to set up a camp of rejection. And in that camp of rejection there has been heaviness in your heart. And I have come tonight as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords to bring My joy to renew your strength; to bring hope where there was despair; to bring answers to where there are questions; to have you understand that lo, I am with you always.
"For I have not forsaken My own, nor shall I forsake My own. For I have sealed you with My Spirit," says the Lord your God.

Please GET INVOLVED! You can DO something and MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Please go and read Rachel's blog on the SOLD Project, supporters of the IJM (International Justice Mission) campaign to pass the Child Protection Compact Act in Congress(CPCA) where she mentions which senators and representatives are supporting this legislation. To read more and have a better understanding, you may visit directly to International Justice Mission (IJM) site, they even answer 12 questions, some specifically addressing how this impacts trafficking and how it will eradicate child trafficking. (AMEN!) They clearly explain the Act and give a concise summary, not too complicated. You can help IJM ensure that this vital legislation is passed by contacting your Member of Congress today to urge him/her to support the CPCA.

Under GET INVOLVED on the IJM site the have a section for CHURCH, I love the opening line on that page  and this is meant to you and me, for we are the Church:
"In His call to us to seek justice for victims of violent oppression, God offers a rugged challenge – a task that requires the great energy stored in the global church...."
Critical Prayer Requests
Prayer For Protection
Ask God to protect IJM staff, their families, and the victims of injustice from physical harm and spiritual attack.
Prayer For Perseverance
Ask God to bless IJM staff with perseverance to seek justice and community transformation in the face of opposition, indifference, and corruption.
Prayer For Love
Ask God to give IJM staff a great love for one another, for the victims that they serve, and for those they confront.
"Today, millions of lives around the world are in the grip of injustice.
More children, women and men are held in slavery right now than over the course of the entire trans-Atlantic slave trade: Millions toil in bondage, their work and even their bodies the property of an owner.
Trafficking in humans generates profits in excess of 12 billion dollars a year for those who, by force and deception, sell human lives into slavery and sexual bondage. Nearly 2 million children are exploited in the commercial sex industry.
The AIDS pandemic continues to rage, and the oppression of trafficking victims in the global sex trade contributes to the disease’s spread..." IJM ... to continue reading more to convince you that something needs to be done and yes, we can make a difference... NOW IS THE TIME.

While you're at this, why not check out Julie Shematz & the BFA FREEdom™ Team with more updates in this inclusive blog. Also Julie will be on Praise FM radio tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 10

Now this is one blog post of MISSIONS with many links but I cannot avoid sharing this information. This one comes closer to home for me, my home state of MN shared this report

Minnesota's child-sex-trafficking profile rising

by Ruben Rosario. 9/9/2010 in TwinCities.com

This is appalling and we need to do something! The last paragraph in the article is what is happening more and more, not just here in Mexico or other 3rd world countries, right at home.

Please GET INVOLVED by writing your senators and representative and then PRAY! Thank you

K LOVE chose THE HOME FOUNDATION to be their featured ministry partner for August. Since August is just about over, I'm a little late. But if you don't know about The Home Foundation, why not head over there and find out more about them afterwards.

"The Home Foundation is a non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to the eradication of human trafficking both domestically and abroad. Through advocacy, education and relief efforts, the Home Foundation is committed to end the suffering of women and children sold into sexual slavery."

Do you know what the H.O.M.E.S project is?

Please become familiar with ways that you might help. One way that we ALL can help is by making other aware, STOP the Traffick through our prayers and support.

  • Pray for the women and children that are still enslaved in trafficking situations. That they would see freedom.
  • Pray for those who have been rescued, that God bring peace and restoration to their lives.

  • Pray for our domestic shelter partners:
Grace Haven – Ohio
Mission Hope Project – Michigan
Pray for the funds needed to do renovations.
Pray for the girls that are on the journey of restoration.
Pray for the staff, that they have the grace and patience to walk through the long healing process with these girls.
  • Pray for our international shelter partners as they do work of restoration in their community
A21 Campaign – Greece
Begining of Life – Moldova
Bombay Teen Challenge – Mumbai, India
Freeset – Kolkata, India
Transitions Global – Mumbai, India
Each of these organizations is hoping to expand their capacity and ability to reach the women in their area. Pray for the ability to do so, and for the women who are in the process of restoration.
  • Pray for the Home Foundation.
Pray that we are lead by God in this upcoming year as we begin new partnerships and expand the organization to continue the work of eradicating sex trafficking domestically and abroad.

Pray for the seeds that are being planted and patience to let them grow.

Pray for the strength of our staff as we begin to take on large projects this year.

Thank you for taking the time to pray. It is the most important thing you can do to help eradicate human trafficking.

WARNING for the CONTENT in the devotional part (below the book):

Psalm 10:12 (42 kb)
Diane Scimone has written another great post and must read "Why don't they just leave?" The mindset of a trafficking victim. It is so good, it even made the ALL TOP list of featured articles.
This is Diane's "HEART" Project... please check it out and read the many ways you can help STOP TRAFFICKING... listed on her blog on the left side bar or at BORN 2 FLY here

Many times, many of us have asked this question of women in abusive or violent relationships.
To us, it seems logical and easy enough to do. We tell ourselves, after all, there are so many agencies and places to help. The decision to leave is compacted by many fears and many lies that are believed by the victim. The decision is interlaced to many other decisions that come in and flood the mind all at once. And the fear overwhelms and paralyzes the victim. Many victims try to rationalize that what they are going through is better than where they have been or the insecurity of the unknown. They realize that this impacts more than just their own life yet they feel isolated. The life of a women, whether trafficked victim or domestic violence is a heart issue and more complicated than whatever we might imagine.

I remember this exact question being asked to me, when I was teaching phone counselors in a church on ABUSE. I remember it so very well, because this was the first time that the Holy Spirit allowed me to break into tears openly in front of a public group of unknown Christian brothers & sisters, because He was in the process of healing me and teaching me about wounds like this. My initial answer was "I don't know."  Then I composed myself, with their prayers, and replied, "Because they believe that Someone will come to rescue them & change their situation. They believe in just one more prayer." They cling to a HOPE until their lifeline of hope becomes HOPELESS. They wait for a MIRACLE to change their misery and resolve their suffering.

Put yourself in their shoes as you read through what Diane wrote here.

My intent for today was to share Day 2 of the pdf devotional from PRICELESS from the book PRICELESS by Tom Harris. (My own remarks are added in parenthesis)

Product DetailsMarina's story represents a real truth that is happening across the world.

Sex slaves are often girls (though there are boys being trafficked as well) following their dreams.
Girls that are trying to overcome a past hardship. (Sometimes in many third world countries, the female has no respect or value, more than this, they are not give an education or a future. Many families that are hard pressed economically see this as the best resolution for their economic woes, to sell their children. They have no real idea of what they are actually doing in their desperation. Even the ones who sell their very young as brides to older men. God forgive them).

A common ploy would be for young girls to be offered a Nanny position. Instead girls will soon realize they had been deceived. Within the first few days of their new job, they will be beaten, drugged, exploited and finally raped. (here they are offered a glitzy life and transported to a border city to be crossed, meanwhile they are used her. Many are use to promote tourism.)

Imagine yourself (or your daughter): You are full of hope. After a dreary life full of dashed hopes, you have begun to believe again. You board a plane thinking and planning for your future only to find out that it was all a lie (a trick of the highest order, sometimes believing the person really loves you). You spend the next few days enduring horrific torture. You are beaten to a pulp, locked in a room without food or water or even a proper restroom. You are then lined up with other girls and stripped naked in front of a crowd of men. You are chosen by one (or more) of them and raped, for what will only be your first time. suggested reading chapters 16-21 of "Priceless"

Statistic to think on (for this day's devotional from the pdf)
Sexual slaves are raped up to 40 times per day.

Psalm 10:17-18  You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.
Job 36:15 But those who suffer he delivers in their suffering; he speaks to them in their affliction.
Psalm 119:50 My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit

Psalm 34:18 (136 kb)Pray that the Lord will comfort the girls in their affliction

Pray that they will feel His arms wrapped around them

Pray for their protection, in body, soul and spirit

Drive home the point personally:
Print out the “Help Wanted” photo from the site. Carry around her picture today. Put her picture on your car dashboard or fridge. Look into her eyes and imagine what she may be going through right now. Pray for her. (Write a prayer from your heart and share it on your site concerning this issue)!

Involve Others:
Write a blog or email to share with your friends the need to pray. Begin sharing some of the statistics you have read. Make sure you share the stories as well. People connect with stories more than just statistics. Share your heart and the new passion God may be giving you. (Learn more about it and what is happening in our legislation about. Write to your own representatives about Human Trafficking. Get involved in your church for your community.)

This is an emotionally difficult issue. Go back to some of the websites (given in my right sidebar). Find the “contact us” link at their site and send emails to the staff of a few of the organizations(or leave a comment).Tell them you are praying for them. Encourage them to keep fighting for the oppressed.

Lord God Almighty Heavenly Father, You hear the cries of these afflicted ones, these innocent victims. Comfort them. Bring them encouragement. Hold back their tormentors and their sufferings. Stop this from continuing. Rescue these precious ones. Open their eyes to the truth.
Help them with a safe way of escape. Wrap Your loving arms around each one and allow her to sense her worth in You and how much You value here, desiring to free her from this situation & her captors then her captivity. Heal her from deep within and restore her broken trust and hope. Take her back to a safe time and restore her from there. Let her know that You are with her. You weep and feel her pain. I pray for each one's protection in body, soul and spirit.

I also command their captors to flee in the Name of Jesus as You send in their Rescuer. We thank You that You are close to the broke hearted. Give them a sense of Your closeness. Deep within reassure them that You care for them and that You are not the One allowing this. We take back their lives from the enemy and we serve him notice and a reminder of his doom to come. Preserve each one of these precious lives so that each one will know that this is not their purpose or destiny, that You have a greater purpose and plan for each one. Break through these 'prisons' that keep them prisoners and bring their freedom followed by restoration.

Send in the laborers! Thank You for opening eyes and for the hearts of compassion. Bless each person in all of these organizations mightily. Give them the power and tools that they need to DO Your work and that every penny would be used to set the captives free and fight this tragedy.  We are angry at this, it is time to rise up and bear arms in force against these wicked forces. No weapon formed against any of these servants of God or victims of this crime shall prosper. We break the chains as we begin to take back the territory, saving lives in Jesus name. We believe in Your power. We ask that You continue to lead in this battle. We thank each person who gets involved. We give all the glory, honor and praise to You...
