"How savvy are you about Alzheimer’s? Take the quiz and see. There are six questions. The answers may surprise you"

Clearly, this is where we should have begun this discovery about Alzheimer's, but let's see how much we might have learned up to this point. I'm learning right along with you in hopes that when I have to deal with this, I will have a better understanding

Example of questions:

Question 1 of 6. How many of these young women, shown here in their 20s during World War II, might have Alzheimer’s disease today?

“Three.” If they are still alive, all of these women would be over 85 years old. Experts estimate that nearly half of Americans over 85 have Alzheimer’s disease because increasing age is the greatest risk factor for Alzheimer’s. In fact, Alzheimer’s is growing at an epidemic rate. Left unchecked, the number of people with the disease could reach 16 million by 2050.

Question 2 of 6. Which of these famous Americans had Alzheimer’s disease?
Rita Hayworth, Ronald Reagan, Norman Rockwell, Rosa Parks

You are correct. the correct answer is “all of the above.” Alzheimer’s disease affects men and women of all races and ethnic groups in all walks of life. No one is immune.

Here's another kind of

called a

how would you do?

And now here's a video of the previous person I shared before doing one of the

Cognitive Assessments

I remember one doctor's visit that my brother took my dad to - one in which our doctor wanted to do some cognitive tests on my father. Well, it didn't work out. He pitched a fit and was yelling and threatening to get physical. We decided to let it go. I think these sorts of tests can be helpful. We haven't done this for Mom yet, but it is something we're talking about.
